The Upper Eastside is the stretch of Biscayne Boulevard north of the Julia Tuttle, with the MiMo motels on one side and the bayfront streets of Morningside and Belle Meade on the other. The mobile mechanic Miami FL residents here call works on the driveway, which this neighborhood actually has. Call 786-504-7447 and we will come out to it.
We work the streets between NE 50th and NE 77th, from Biscayne Boulevard across to Bayshore Drive. Shaded driveways and real space beside the car make this one of the easiest parts of the city to work in.
Biscayne Boulevard, which is US-1 here, is the main road and the one to plan around. The junctions that matter are Biscayne Boulevard at NE 54th Street, the gateway into Morningside, and Biscayne Boulevard at NE 79th Street, where the causeway traffic to North Bay Village and Miami Beach joins.
NE 2nd Avenue runs parallel inland, Bayshore Drive and NE 10th Avenue hug the water through Morningside, and I-195 at the southern end is the quick way across to the beach. The MiMo Historic District signage along Biscayne marks the motel stretch between NE 61st and NE 77th.
This is one of the areas we cover across the city, listed with the rest on our Mobile Mechanic Locations Miami FL page.
Legion Park on NE 7th Avenue holds the Saturday farmers market and has the bay at the back of it. Morningside Park is the one with the tennis courts, the pool and the boat ramp, and it is where a lot of weekend traffic ends up.
The MiMo Historic District along Biscayne Boulevard is the reason visitors come: Miami Modern architecture from the 1950s, now restaurants and hotels rather than motor courts. The Vagabond Hotel is the best known of them. If you are visiting, park on Biscayne itself or on the numbered side streets, and respect the residential permit areas in Morningside.
This is king tide country. Every autumn, usually across September, October and November, the highest tides of the year push bay water up through the storm drains and onto the low streets nearest the water, including parts of Bayshore Drive and NE 10th Avenue. It happens on clear days with no rain at all, which catches visitors out completely.
Driving a car through standing salt water is how a cheap problem becomes an expensive one. Salt water gets into brake hardware, wheel bearings, exhaust hangers and the wiring that runs low in the body, and corrosion carries on long after the street has dried out. If you have driven through it, get the brakes and the underside looked at rather than waiting for a noise.
The faults that come up most often on vehicles in Upper Eastside, each one handled where the car is parked.
Brake hardware, bearings and low wiring checked for corrosion before it seizes something.
Salt air plus humidity. One bad ground explains a list of unrelated symptoms.
Low mileage bayfront cars still need belts, hoses and fluids on time.
King tides. The highest tides of the year push bay water up through the drains in autumn, with no rain involved. It is normal here and it is hard on cars.
Brakes, wheel bearings and any low mounted wiring. Salt water keeps corroding after the street dries, so it is worth looking before something seizes.
